A time to remember…

I know this is about as far away from our Thanksgiving holiday as you can get but I think it is an appropriate time to again pray the Thanksgiving Prayer by Samuel Pugh. After the prayer we will listen to some of the words of the prophet Micah.

 Oh God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work, help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home, help me to remember those who have not home at all;

When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer,

And remembering them, help me to destroy my complacency,

Bestir my compassion, and be concerned enough to help by word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted.

Amen

When the prophet Micah was asked what the Lord requires of us, he gave us six beautiful words to live by in verse 6:8

Act justly

Love mercy

Walk humbly

May we always remember those words in our daily lives and the message contained in Pastor Pugh’s Thanksgiving prayer.

  1. Proverbs 31:8″Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches: feed me with food convenient for me:”
    9.”Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say ,who is the Lord? or lest I be poor and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.”
    We must be ever mindful of His goodness to us , and our dependence upon Him.
